I am looking forward to meeting all of you very soon.

Thank You Julie
I would like to thank Julie for all her help and guidance so far. She has so generously shared all her knowledge and experience of what is required, the standards expected and how this very special and wonderful salon is operated. She has truly built up a super salon. I am grateful for this strong foundation and the opportunity to continue all her hard work and will do my very best to offer a service and experience of a high standard that everyone will enjoy. I have worked very hard toward making this happen and truly treasure the opportunity.

A Fond Farewell

Fond Farewell

The time has come to bid you a fond farewell. Monday 29 February 2016, will be my last day at emphasis. I am leaving with mixed feelings as I truly enjoy being a beauty therapist and I love my salon (my little escape). However, I’m heading off to new adventures. While I’m not sure what they are just yet, I do trust that they will be amazing and filled with new challenges.

Working with each and every one of you has been an absolute joy. We gave one another the greatest gift: time - a portion of our lives that we will never get back. I wish to thank you for your support and I will miss your heart-warming smiles. I sincerely hope that we can stay in touch and find future opportunities to spend time together.

Congratulations to Lindri van der Merwe who will be the new owner of emphasis. Lindri is from a farm in the Eastern Cape outside Jeffreys Bay. After spending a year abroad, Lindri studied in George at an elite college where she graduated with her international qualifications: ITEC and CIDESCO. She then worked at Pezula in Knysna and she is currently working at Fancourt Spa.

Lindri is very passionate about being a beauty therapist and she loves to take care of people and make them feel good about themselves. She is really looking forward to being the new owner of emphasis and she foresees many happy years ahead.

Lindri, I wish you great success with your future at emphasis. Pre-scheduled appointments will remain as scheduled unless you notify me or Lindri otherwise.

Fondest regards,
Julie McKey

emphasis – The Way Forward

Tranquil emphasis

As another year draws to a close it’s a good time to reflect and make adjustments to our lives. Achieving balance between work and family has proved to be a massive challenge for me in 2015. I have learned that things don’t automatically balance, it is an on-going process which takes consistent work and careful planning.

With balance in mind, I have had to make drastic changes to my work schedule. I realise that the changes will not suite everyone and for that I would like to sincerely apologise. I cherish every single one of you and without you, yet another wonderful year would not be possible. Thank you for your support. It’s always a joy to work with you.

New Salon Hours
Monday to Friday 08:30 – 12:30
Saturdays* 09:00 – 12:00
* Open on pre-selected Saturdays of the month by appointment only

2016 Price Increase
Due to the rapid shift in the exchange rate, I have no alternative but to raise the prices. New prices will be available on the website from mid January 2016.

Please note that emphasis will be closing on Friday 18 December 2015 and will re-open on Wednesday 13 January 2016. The booking schedule is now open for 2016. It is essential to schedule bookings in advance.

May the magic of the holiday season stay with you throughout 2016!

Congratulations and Thank You, Nadia

image

The stork will once again make a special delivery to emphasis. Nadia will soon be welcoming a little boy into the world and she has therefore decided that it is time to say farewell.

The positive side of finding it hard to say goodbye to someone is that it means that you have found a true friend. Nadia, Thank you. These are small words with deep meaning. Some people pass through this world and leave it as they found it. Your proactive approach and your willingness to make a difference to those around you is truly commendable. Your demeanour at work has been nothing short of professional. Your kindness motivates me and your care encourages me.

When your precious child arrives, you will soon learn that as mothers we think about our children day and night. We love them profoundly, always. Barbara Johnson wrote: “To be in your children’s memories tomorrow, you have to be in their lives today.”

I wish you all the best and continued success. Goodbyes are fortunately not forever, they simply mean that I will miss you until we meet again.

Autumn Light

Jasper Conran - Autumn/Winter 2015-16

As summer light softens and goes golden, heaps of autumn leaves begin to gather beneath the trees and we start to feel a coolness in the breeze. It’s that time of year again – nature spreads a rich palette of colour, turning leaves to yellow, gold and red. Riots of colour all around whisper that one thing… when autumn is gone, winter will begin.

The season brings change to emphasis too as we wish Lehandra farewell. The lure of motherhood has brought about the end of her chapter here with us. Lehandra, as you move into your new venture, may love and success be with you always. I trust that you will embrace this season of life and hope that you will find the directions that lead you to your dreams.

For the autumn season, here at emphasis, we highly recommend our Radiance Revealing Vitamin Rich Cocktail Treatment. It works to reveal the natural glow of your skin in the cooler seasonal air. The warmth of the vitamin rich mask brings pleasant sensations to your skin as you relax with one of our luxurious hand massages.

To all of our clients, I look forward to welcoming each and every one of you to our salon this season.

Wishing you and your families love, warmth and joy!

Congratulations to Lehandra!

Lehandra Maternity

Congratulations to Lehandra on her wonderful news! We are pleased to announce another maternity at emphasis. We’ve watched Lehandra grow and she has certainly bloomed. She will soon welcome the pitter patter of tiny pink feet for the second time.

Lehandra will be taking her maternity leave effective 1 March 2015. She will rejoin the team 1 July 2015.

As I will be working alone from 1 March 2015 in Lehandra’s absence, I strongly suggest that you schedule treatments well in advance to avoid disappointment.

The appointment book is open till 23 December 2015.

We at emphasis wish Lehandra a healthy delivery and all the best with her newborn.

The Beauty of Motherhood

On Friday 4 April 2014, my husband Douglas and I welcomed our little blessing Lisa Marie into the world. We think that Lisa is adorable and I’m pleased that I had the opportunity to spend the last three months at home with her.

Being a mother taught me a few strengths that I didn’t know I had, a few fears I never knew existed and that being paid in smiles and pure love is so rewarding. The past three months have gone by fast and I have fallen in love with a new little soul. I know that for some of you it feels like three years though.

I’m returning to work on 1 July 2014. I look forward to seeing you all and I will try my best to keep you entertained with conversations pertaining to topics other than breast milk, diapers and how adorable my daughter is.

Lehandra and Nadia did an excellent job of keeping things organized in my absence, thank you ladies. The full emphasis team look forward to your next visit to our salon.

As always, advance bookings are essential to avoid disappointment.
